Neurology and psychiatry

Neurologists, psychiatrists and psychotherapists working at the Neurology and Psychiatry Centre –  a part of the Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Centre – carry out diagnoses and treatment of different neurological and mental conditions, order the necessary tests, and recommend physiotherapy as a supplementary treatment for both adults and children.

The most common diseases and illnesses: Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, functional cognitive disorders, sleep disorders and other disorders of the consciousness, migraine and other types of headache, peripheral nervous system disorders, Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia, depression (mild) etc.

Treatment. Our neurologists, psychiatrists and psychotherapists specialize in the treatment of certain conditions and are able to provide quick and efficient help when it is required the most.

It usually takes 1 day* for doctors at the Centre to establish the cause of the health problem, provide a diagnosis and prescribe treatment.

*In some cases, the tests to confirm the final diagnosis may take more than one day. If that is the case, your doctor or medical staff responsible for the test will inform you about it.

FAQ (frequently asked questions)

You should make an appointment with the neurologist if you suffer from:

·       Headaches and dizziness;

·       Flashing lights in the eyes, temporary loss of vision;

·       Fits accompanied by muscle spasms, loss of consciousness;

·       Weakness, anxiety;

·       Problems with memory;

·       Loss of orientation, coordination;

·       Cervical, back pain and muscle weakness.

In our country people are reluctant to share their mental health problems and tend to keep their depression, psychoses, constant anxiety and insomnia-related experiences to themselves.

At some point in their life everyone experiences certain signs of emotional disorders, such as insomnia, increased anxiety, low mood. It is impossible to completely avoid stress or complicated life situations that may cause temporary health problems. These problems are not yet disorders. When disorders occur, the symptoms are prolonged, they become more severe or chronic, and start interfering with the normal life of the affected person and the people around them.

Do not wait until your condition becomes severe. Make an appointment with the psychiatrist if you have been experiencing these symptoms for some time:

·       Stress, anxiety;

·       Fear, anger;

·       Inability to overcome low mood, apathy;

·       Changed sleep or dietary patterns;

·       If you would like to deal with your alcohol, drug etc. addiction;

·       If you are undergoing a psychological crisis;

·       If you are undergoing a relationship crisis;

·       If you are having suicidal thoughts;

·       If you are bothered by communication difficulties;

·       If you are having child parenting-related difficulties;

·       If your child has behavioural disorders or adaptation problems etc.

Mental conditions can impact not just the affected person but their entire family, however, most conditions can be successfully dealt with and allow the person to lead a normal life.

Do not delay. Take care of yourself
